About me
Hello, I’m Jamie, a qualified person-centred therapeutic counsellor.
Jamie Calvert, Dip.Couns, MBACP
I offer an empathetic, collaborative practice, tailored to your worries, needs and goals. As your counsellor, I will support you in your self-exploration free from judgement.
Hello, I am Jamie, a qualified and BACP registered therapeutic counsellor dedicated to supporting you on your therapeutic journey. Working together therapeutically will help you to discover your true potential for happiness, understand yourself with compassion and build healthier meaningful relationships with others. We will work collaboratively towards alleviating your distress and working towards the goals you hope to achieve.
Taking your first step into counselling is a courageous move but can be understandably daunting. Together, we can work towards a future where you feel more at peace with your past, more connected in your relationships, and more certain of who you truly are.
What can I help with?
You may have one or more issues that have led to you considering counselling. Some of the specific issues I can support you with are:
Relationship and family issues
Addressing family estrangement, abuse, and other relational difficulties.Mens mental health
Providing a safe and supportive space for men to explore their challenges through male-focused therapy.Identity
Exploring self-acceptance for your authentic self.
LGBT+ affirmative - embracing your sexual identity and gender as part of your true self.
Neurodivergence affirmative - acknowledging your genuine identity within your lived reality.Couples counselling
Helping partners strengthen their connection and resolve conflict and other relationship issues.
Unexplained distress or anxiety
It isn't always easy to pinpoint the source of these feelings and identify specific issues. Therapy can help to explore and better understand these feelings.
If you would like to discuss this further you can make an enquiry here or request a free 15 minute introductory session.
My counselling approach
I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor who draws on person-centred values and acknowledges the significance of the therapeutic relationship in shaping psychological well-being. You will decide what to bring to the sessions, and together, we will identify the best way to work towards your therapeutic goals.
As your counsellor, I will listen empathically, offering complete acceptance in a non-judgemental environment. Collaboratively, we will safely explore your thoughts and feelings to nurture your true self.
My practice is trauma-informed, LGBT+ affirmative and neurodiversity affirmative. I aim to create a therapeutic environment where you can bring your whole self, embracing all aspects of your identity, including neurodivergence, sexual identity, and unique lived experiences.
